Sunday 7th July
Gosfield Lake, Gosfield
Request for 8 Safety Kayakers
A payment of £25.00 per person is offered.
Please note: Volunteers must have passed their FSRT Training to qualify as a safety kayaker.
If you would like to get involved and offer your support then please contact;
Jacquie Hall (BCC Club Secretary) for further information.
The main purpose of the craft is the safety of the swimmers. There can be novice swimmers who can be nervous swimming in groups. Open water swimming can cause anxiety in even a competent swimmer.
The British Triathlon swimmer safety requirement is for a safety craft to be no more than 50m from a swimmer.
The safety craft would be required to monitor the swimmers and assist any swimmer in difficulty. This would require a swimmer to hold onto the front of the craft for rest or rescue.
The swimmers are allowed to wear wet-suits in water temperature under 22 degrees. Above that temperature wetsuits are forbidden.
Event: Sunday 7th July
The Gosfield event, on Sunday 7th July, will require 8 safety craft, as the swim course is 750m in length.
There are two events being held at the same time so some swimmers will be completing one lap and some two laps of the swim course. 8 safety craft would be perfect.
There is a motorboat available as back up at this event.
Note: Gosfield lake is shallow, swimmers will be able to touch the bottom in places.
